Following recent inclusion as corporate members of the
Sprayed Concrete Association, we're making strong headway in the
structural repair sector, having secured and completed a number of
notable contracts. These have included carbon fibre strengthening of
the River Roding Bridge steel caissons and strengthening of the sea
wall at Morecambe for Lancaster City Council by the dry sprayed
concreting method.
At Morecambe, planning and design were governed to
a great extent by the marine nature of the site and the need to ensure
that within the tidal zone work area, rapid curing of each day’s
concreting work was achieved. In excess of 100 tonnes of concrete were
sprayed on this project.

Meanwhile, work on the repairs to
MRM (Residuary) Ltd’s Burnden Railway Viaduct,
which spans the A666 dual carriageway trunk road in Bolton, continues
apace with a projected final value in the order of £200,000. This job
entails refurbishment of the deteriorating reinforced concrete deck by
a sequence of hydrodemolition and dry sprayed concreting. The majority
of the work involves treatment of the deck soffits although some full
thickness repair is being carried out.

The division is now also a member of the Corrosion Prevention
Association and is currently undertaking the installation of a
discreet anode cathodic protection system to the prestigious Condor
House development in St Paul’s Churchyard, central London. |
